Natural Christmas tree decorations are making a comeback
This wooden star fascinates with its beautiful design. Martina Rudolph's small family manufactory specializes in chip tree engraving. A very special way of making trees, which is only practiced in the Erzgebirge. For the wooden stars, however, only flat trees are engraved, by lifting chip by chip along the sides of a lime wood blank with a sharp chisel. These curls of chips are then shaped, so that the curls look even. Six trees are always attached to the center of a hub. Triangular wooden tips protrude between the trees at the back, which are slightly larger than the chip trees. The tips are decorated with small round wooden appliqués. The star has a diameter of approx. 8 cm and is hung on a fine golden thread.
